Craftsmanship
Handcrafted with care and passion by master artisans.
We promise to offer you a smarter way to shop. A way that gives you the highest quality at the lowest price possible, while making a positive impact on the world. It’s simple, and may even sound mundane, but it’s what drives us.
Shoes should be beautiful and comfortable so you actually enjoy wearing them. To achieve this, we have developed our own lasts (foot-shaped molds) and have refined them over years based on real customer feedback.
High-quality materials are the foundation of all great products. We source ours from Argentinian and Italian tanneries with decades of experience producing some of the finest leathers.
We rely on traditional shoe-making techniques, not out of nostalgia but because it’s the only way to guarantee the longevity of our products. You deserve quality for years, not seasons.
A shoe is so much more than the sum of its parts. To achieve a unique character, we focus extensively on finishings. From sanding and waxing the soles, to hand polishing the uppers for a flawless look.
We attach brass grommets to the interior of the eyelets to protect them from deforming or tearing. They're not visible from the exterior as they're secured through the lining. This keeps a clean and elegant look.
This darker strip of leather around the shoe collar is known as a French binding. It's a small reinforcement carefully stitched between the upper and lining to enhance the shoe structure and to create a clean finish.
With the Blake method, the outsole is stitched to the insole and upper rather than glued on. This provides a sturdy yet comfortable construction which is easy to resole. We also taper the waist for greater arch support.
Our midsoles, outsoles, and heel stacks are made from vegetable tanned leather. This luxurious material is universally recognized for its beauty and durability. Plus, it can be replaced or repaired when the time comes.
We use a large single piece of Vachetta leather for our linings. This creates a smooth interior that enhances comfort and breathability. The leather lined footbed provides support and adapts to the foot's shape without collapsing.
This type of leather will never peel or crack. It has a natural appearance with a deep color and a handsome luster. As it ages, it will develop a rich patina which adds character and makes the shoes even more beautiful.
The higher the stitching density, the stronger the build of the shoe. We sew our uppers with a waxed thread at 10 stitches per inch. This provides tight seams which look luxurious and will never break.
We aim to construct our shoes with as few leather pieces as possible. Instead of jointing down small parts to build patchy large sections, we opt for wholecut pieces. It looks cleaner, and the shoe molds better to the feet.
Heel stacks are made from layers of vegetable tanned leather, the same material used for the outsoles. This guarantees the best possible adhesion so they will never detach. They also provide excellent balance and support.
We believe in a footwear industry which puts equal importance on the craftspeople, the environment and the customer.
We feel fortunate to work with skilled craftspeople. It is our duty to provide them with safe and ethical working conditions. This includes fair wages, health insurance, pension and paid vacation every year.
We foster relationships with raw material suppliers committed to responsible water, chemical, and waste management. We also use 100% natural waxes, water-based solvents and dyes.
Instead of chasing the latest trends, we focus on offering you products that stand the test of time. Designs you can enjoy wearing today as well as in 10+ years - classic and timeless.
